1. Farmville runs on a complex Series of Tubes and Files.
2. The Default Icon that comes up for ANYTHING in the orchard (you can try this yourself) is the Passion Fruit
3. One of the main backbones of the game is Extensible Markup Language or XML.
4. In this XML Items, and their attributes are set. 
5. The Hand Fan Tree has its next level set as "XX" instead of the proper item code.  The Item Code "XX" is one of a number of Power Hour Buffs. 
6. A Power Hour Buff seems to be set as "Play 5-6 PM every day and get a Mystery Farming Bonus! Available for a limited time, so get them while you can! Happy Farming!" * This isn't active yet, its just hanging out in the Code…
7. The Complete Text of what comes up when selecting a Level 1 Hand Fan Tree in an orchard is "Double the chance to find Mystery Baby" Yeah that looks incorrect…

Basically it seems like when they were coding up the back end of the game, they made a mistake, and the Hand Fan tree is trying to birth one of the Power Hour Buffs, which is impossible.  Which is why the Icon of the default doings comes up instead of something else.  This likely will be corrected.  I do not think its a plot to ruin "tree breeding"  Remember how quickly before they flip flopped on the Orchards losing 4% readiness with a new tree.
At worst, hold off on buying the Level 1 Tree for a few days, You have 2 weeks.
